Is this for you?
Do transitions, mornings or conversations about school often lead to overwhelm, withdrawal or conflict?
Are you trying to understand what your child needs, but finding that familiar approaches are no longer helping?
School related distress rarely has one cause or one simple solution. This is why we have created three connected 90-minute workshops to offer a space to step out of the immediate pressures and look differently at what may be happening for your child, for you, between you and in the school environment.
Each workshop combines accessible learning, reflection and practical tools that you can adapt to your own family.
We begin by exploring transitions and psychological safety, before moving into communication and shared understanding, and finally connection, parental presence and compassionate boundaries. Each workshop can be attended individually, while the complete series offers a fuller journey from noticing what may be happening to finding practical ways forward with your child and school.
The School Transitions Workshops Series

What Makes These Workshops Different?
These aren't webinars where you simply sit and listen.
Alongside accessible information, we'll use gentle reflection, practical activities and the SORT Reflection Compass to help you explore what's happening for your child, yourself and your family.
You'll leave with practical ideas and small experiments to try at home, rather than a long list of things you're supposed to do.
You can participate in whatever way works for you. Talk, use the chat, reflect privately, take part in activities or simply listen. There is no pressure to share personal family experiences.
Your Facilitators
Louise Chapman
Louise is a Systemic Family Psychotherapist and Art Psychotherapist, and Co-Founder of SORT. Her work is grounded in a systemic and neuroaffirming understanding of children and families, looking beyond behaviour to understand what is shaping distress, strengthening relationships, and creating greater safety, connection and belonging.
Dr Elicia Boulton
Elicia is a Counselling Psychologist with experience supporting neurodivergent children, young people, adults and families. Their work brings together psychological understanding, compassion and practical ways of supporting meaningful change.
Together, Louise and Elicia bring a collaborative, neuroaffirming and relationship-centred approach, creating space for reflection, shared understanding and practical ideas that families can take away and use in everyday life.

What is the SORT approach?Guided by the SORT Belonging Framework TM, we pause to look beyond behaviour and attendance to understand the whole picture and develop a shared understanding of what is driving distress. The aim is not to make children fit more comfortably into environments that do not meet their needs. We recognise that every child experiences the world differently and support needs to be shaped around the child, with them at the centre. This includes thinking about what may need to change around the child, alongside the support offered within the family. We also consider nervous system regulation, communication, strengthening of relationships, identity, strengths, belonging, and the wider school environment. Our approach is inclusive, neuroaffirming and relationship-centred.
Will the workshops be recorded? Yes, but only the facilitator teaching is recorded. Participant discussions, reflections and interactive parts of the workshop are not included in the recording. You will have access to the teaching recording for 30 days after the final workshop in the series.
What happens after I book? You'll receive a confirmation email with information about your workshop, how to join online and anything you may want to have with you. You'll also receive information about accessing your resources and recording.
