My Story
Louise is a qualified Art Psychotherapist and Systemic and Family Psychotherapist, with over 16 years’ experience working with children, young people, families and professional teams. She currently works within an inpatient adolescent CAMHS service alongside her private practice.
Louise is passionate about supporting young people and families to build on their existing strengths and develop new ways of understanding themselves and each other. Her work is grounded in collaboration, curiosity and the belief that change happens within relationships.
She brings a creative and flexible approach to her sessions, often using art and experiential ways of working to help make sense of experiences—especially when words feel hard to find. These shared moments can open up new understanding and create opportunities for connection and healing.
Louise has a particular passion for supporting young people who are looked after or who have experienced adoption. She recognises the complexity of these experiences and the impact they can have on identity, relationships and a sense of belonging. She works alongside young people and their families to gently make sense of these experiences, supporting connection, safety and understanding within relationships.
She is also deeply committed to neuroaffirming practice, holding a holistic view of each child and family. Louise considers the wider context of a young person’s needs—including emotional, relational, developmental and environmental factors—working collaboratively to ensure support feels meaningful, respectful and tailored to the individual.
Louise is an advanced Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) practitioner and clinical supervisor, and often integrates this approach to support families in repairing relationships and strengthening connection. She also draws on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Family Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa (FT-AN), Multi-Family Therapy (MFT), Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT) and Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT), adapting her work to meet the needs of each family.
Louise believes it is a privilege to support people through difficult experiences. She aims to create a space that feels safe, respectful and empowering—where families can begin to make sense of what’s been happening and move towards the changes they would like to see. You don’t need to have the right words to begin.
Those who have worked with Louise often describe her as warm, genuine and thoughtful, offering both support and gentle challenge. She sees her role as walking alongside individuals and families, helping them to better understand the patterns in how they relate to themselves and each other.
At the heart of her work is a belief that we all need to feel heard, understood and connected to the people who matter to us.
“Just like moons and like suns, with the certainty of tides. Just like hopes springing high, still I’ll rise.”
