What can I expect when I contact SORT?

Once you have completed your ‘contact us’ form we will get back to you within 2 working days via email to discuss the next steps. If we feel SORT can support you and your family, we will send you a referral form to complete so that we gain more information to assess your family's needs. Once we have discussed the information as a team we will contact you to discuss next steps.

What locations do you cover?

SORT is a national UK based organisation that works virtually so we are able to work with individuals and families from any locality. So if you have access to a laptop or mobile with internet, you can access our services from where you live.

Question 3

Do you offer face to face appointments?

Accepted Answer

As part of our mission to be accessible to as many families as possible and to reduce our carbon footprint our service is offered through a virtual platform. We do not currently offer face to face appointments. If you are unsure about whether a virtual platform would work for you then get in touch via our contact us page and we can help you think about your needs further.

Question 4

Can you work with more than one child in my family?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SORT supports the whole family, regardless of how many adults or children are in the family. SORT helps you to focus on the relationships within your family unit so that means working with everybody’s needs, concerns and worries. If individual work is needed alongside tailored family sessions with more than one child then this can be arranged. During family therapy sessions it may be that we work with different members of the family at different times but we aim to be inclusive of everyone who you consider an important part of the family or support network.

What if I want to attend but my co-parent/carer does not?

Whilst it can be helpful to have all co-parents/carers involved in the intervention we do support individual parents/carers too, including separated and divorced parents. If your co-parent/carer does not want to attend then you can share resources with them and share your experiences and ideas. If the difficulty is around attending together then SORT can see you separately. We strive to support you and your family in the most helpful way for you.

Urgent appointments?

We will always do our best to offer an initial appointment as swiftly and ensure ongoing appointments are as often as you need and want them. However, we are not able to offer emergency appointments as we do not have an 'out of hours' team. If you need urgent assistance or emergency help please call 111 (urgent medical assistance) or 999 for emergency help.

Question 7

How long are sessions normally?

Group sessions are 2 hours and individual sessions are usually 1 hour in duration. The length of intervention can vary for family sessions or individual support which is dependant on your personal circumstances. We will work together to establish clear goals and review how things are going regularly with a minimum review of every 6 sessions. Groups run for 9 weeks with an optional drop in session 6 weeks later.

What happens if I cannot make a scheduled session?

Sometimes life happens and you might be unable to attend your session as planned. A standard minimal 48 hour cancellation notice period is in place for all tailored family/individual sessions otherwise a full fee applies. Contact your practitioner to discuss rescheduling the appointment where possible.
If you are unable to attend the group then these sessions cannot be rearranged individually and so we would send you the resources and information from the session. It is important to note that we do not offer refunds for missed sessions during the group.

How much does help cost?

Parenting support:These sessions are with an individual therapist and depend on the intervention offered. Costs range from £90-120 per one hour session.Family Therapy:These sessions are with an individual Systemic and Family Psychotherapist and depend on the intervention offered. Costs range from £110-130 per one hour session.Individual sessions:These sessions are with an individual therapist and cost range between £90-130 per one hour session depending on the intervention. As part of our mission to be accessible to as many families as possible we are offering a reduced rate scheme. Reduced rates are available to families who are currently claiming Universal credit. You will need to provide evidence of your current universal credit status. Please contact us to further discuss costs and eligibility for the reduced rate scheme. What is the reduced rate scheme?

As part of our mission to be accessible to as many families as possible we are offering a reduced rate scheme. Reduced rates are available to families who are currently claiming Universal credit. We are commited to offering 2 places per group, so it is a first come first served bases. A reduced rate is also available for family/individual sessions. You will need to provide evidence of your current universal credit status. Please contact us to further discuss costs and eligibility for the reduced rate scheme. Question 11

Is my information kept private?

You have the right to keep all your information regarding your intervention private. We will not share any information about you without your written consent however we will share information if we believe there is risk of harm to you or someone else or if there are concerns regarding possible abuse or neglect. As practitioners we have regular supervision with an accredited supervisor and so we may or may not discuss your information during this supervision to ensure we are providing you the best possible service.

What if I chanage my mind?

Tailored family/individual sessions are charged per session and so you can decide at any point to end the service. Once you have accessed the free 30 minute consultation and signed up to the group you will be asked to make your payment in advance. Once you have made your payment this is non-refundable.
