About the event

Workshop two: Communication and Understanding

When children are experiencing school-related stress, communication can become harder. They may withdraw, become overwhelmed, struggle to explain what is happening or communicate distress through behaviour.

This live online workshop will help parents and carers look beneath behaviour and explore what a child may be trying to communicate through their responses. We’ll think about ways to reduce conflict, strengthen shared understanding and support communication in ways that feel safer and more manageable for both children and adults.

The workshop is guided by the SORT Belonging Framework™ and takes a neuroaffirming, relationship-centred approach. The focus is on developing understanding rather than compliance, and on finding ways of responding that support connection, regulation and a greater sense of being understood.
